Meeting with the Ministry of mines and Energy

26 October 2023

Mr. CHHEAV Narath, EuroCham Board Member and Chairman of the Human Resources Committee, attended the meeting with the Ministry of Mines and Energy on October 26, 2023.

This meeting was to start the third day of meetings. The delegation met with H.E. Keo Rattanak, the Minister of Mines and Energy, at the MME headquarters to begin the third day of meetings. The meeting raised a lot of hope for the future of renewable energy, as both sides expressed a desire to collaborate on initiatives that will spur the nation's switch to green energy. Normally, the government would only get involved to reach outlying areas with little potential for private sector investment. It is anticipated that 500 MW of solar will be installed over the next three years, with the goal of having 70–80% renewable energy by 2030.

The delegation envisioned rooftop solar and expressed interest in renewable energy, including liquefied natural gas, for European businesses. If it can be handled well with the current grid, the government is willing to accept it.
