Meeting with the Ministry of public works and transport

26 October 2023

Mr. CHHEAV Narath, EuroCham Board Member and Chairman of the Human Resources Committee, attended the meeting with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on October 26, 2023.

It was the last meeting of the European-ASEAN Business Council Delegation Meeting. During this meeting with Minister of Public Works and Transport, H.E Peng Ponea, plans were made for hundreds more charging stations to become available in the near to medium future, as both parties stated their desire to see more installed across the nation.

Following the model of the prosperous Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville highway, roads are being planned with the eager participation of foreign investors and the public sector's willingness to broaden its pool of partners and investors. The Phnom Pen-Bavet motorway will be an important project to keep an eye on. A significant topic of conversation was road safety, and it was suggested that the ministry consider mandating ABS brakes for two-wheeled vehicles. A recurring theme was the necessity of advanced technology to support the transport sector's green, sustainable transition, which opens doors for foreign investors.
