20 March 2026, Mr. Chheav Narath, Chairperson of the HR Committee and EuroCham Chairman of the HR Committee, attended an urgent meeting chaired by H.E. Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, to discuss potential measures to ease the burden on employees and employers in light of disruptions to global oil supply and rising fuel prices.
Following the National Council of Minimum Wage’s urgent meeting, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) announced a temporary monthly top-up of USD 2.50 as a fuel supplement/subsidy, on top of the existing transport allowance to ease the cost of living for workers, effective from 01 April 2026, applicable until fuel price situation return to normal.
“As a member of the National Council for Minimum Wage, I had the opportunity to join the urgent meeting convened by H.E. Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, to discuss the impact of rising fuel prices on workers and employers. In the current context, it is important that all stakeholders come together quickly and responsibly to find practical measures that help ease immediate pressure on workers, while also taking into account the operational realities faced by businesses.”
“The temporary top-up transport support reflects a timely effort to provide short-term relief during a challenging period. At the same time, this discussion also highlights the importance of continued dialogue between government and the private sector to identify balanced, sustainable solutions that protect workers’ livelihoods, support employers, and maintain the resilience and competitiveness of Cambodia’s industries.”, Narath Chheav, Chairperson of the HR Committee and Managing Director of CoGen HR, Management Academy and Consulting Group.
