EuroCham Cambodia Event 2023

Most of the night was spent making connections and enjoying the fresh night air on the patio, and EuroCham Chairman Tassilo Brinzer also took the opportunity to address some of EuroCham’s key joint priorities with the government, including:

𝐆𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧

EuroCham stands committed to renewable energy, particularly rooftop solar, to enable manufacturers to utilize sustainable energy sources and keep higher value manufacturing in Cambodia, while making the Kingdom more attractive to newcomers. The chamber will also work in the coming year to support a further greening of the economy, energy infrastructure, and tourism.

𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐩𝐞

As stated by Mr. Brinzer, increased digitialisation can help streamline administrative processes and eliminate red tape, making it easier for businesses to thrive. With increasing administrative capabilities comes increased application of these capabilities, and the danger of overreaching is becoming an issue for investors who aim at being compliant.

𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

EuroCham will work to support capacity-building projects and HR policies that will help companies grow with local talent.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞

Eurocham supports a rapid integration of non-compliant companies into the regulatory environment to grow tax and state revenues, and to create a level playing field with the already compliant segment of the economy.

“As a relatively small economy, we must attract investment by making it easy for everyone to visit, invest, create good and better-paid jobs, and thus contribute to economic development that can help Cambodia compete with its regional peers,” Mr. Brinzer said.
